John R. Roberts | Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Consultant

Dr. John Roberts’ contributions to the field of cardiothoracic surgery have resulted in the healthy lives of numerous patients. Set on the medical path early in life, Dr. Roberts first attended Duke University, where he graduated in 1981 with an AB summa cum laude. He continued his education at Yale University and received an MD with honors. From there, he completed his residency in surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He completed surgical oncology and thoracic surgery fellowships in the subsequent years. In 1995, Dr. Roberts took on his first teaching position at the University of Pennsylvania, where he served in the capacity of assistant professor for two years.
After his time teaching, Dr. Roberts returned to the South to join the staff of Vanderbilt University, taking on the role of the chief of general thoracic surgery. In 2011, Dr. Roberts came into his present role, which is as a thoracic surgeon with the Tri Star Medical Group. Additionally, he has lectured at Harvard Medical School and Vanderbilt University.
